Wedding stationery and your wedding theme... should they be one in the same?

Your wedding invitations are the first thing your guests will see, so it's important to make sure they reflect your wedding theme. Here are a few tips on how to do just that:

  • Use your wedding colours. If you would like to give your guests a hint of what colour scheme you are using throughout your day then this is the perfect chance. Colour can be incorporated into your stationery through the paper, font colour, envelope, liner or the finishing touches. Examples of these finishing touches are wax seals, ribbon, twine, tassels, brooches or jewels.
  • Choose the right paper and font. The paper and font you choose for your invitations should be in keeping with your overall theme. For example, if you're having a modern wedding you might want to go down the clear acrylic route and combine a script font with something bold.
  • Incorporate personal touches. I love adding couples initials to invites, either printed as a design element, on a custom wax seal or printed on an envelope liner. This can quickly elevate your wedding stationery and set your wedding apart. I also encourage adding quotes from your favourite song together or a line from a book that is meaningful to you both. This is a great way to add a personal touch.
  • Get creative with your design. There are no rules when it comes to wedding invitations. Get creative with your design (or let your stationer help) and let you and your partners personality shine through.
